In Cameron, NC, more homeowners choose ductless mini splits each year due to their many advantages over window units. Going ductless can improve your overall comfort and air quality. If you’re still hanging onto an older window unit, here are more reasons to switch to a mini-split.
Better Window Security, Views and Ventilation
Window units have to sit in a window, which means you lose the use of most, if not all, of that window. You can’t open it for fresh air because that would affect the AC unit’s stability. Additionally, boards or other material used to close gaps block much of the view out the window.
To install a ductless system, we drill a hole about 3 inches in diameter for each indoor air handler. This allows the conduit, which has the refrigerant tube and wiring, to connect to the single outdoor condenser unit.
The result is that you still have a full window that you can open and look out of as you please. We typically install the indoor units on a wall, but we can also mount them in the ceiling or provide a floor model. Just let your HVAC service technician know where you want it.
Ductless ACs Are Usually Quieter
Window units can be noisy, especially as they get older. In contrast, ductless AC units are much quieter, allowing for more restful sleep and easier concentration. Most models have a variable speed fan that runs continuously at a slow speed.
The Energy Efficiency Is Much Better
The energy efficiency of ductless units is off the charts compared to window units. Granted, window units nowadays are much more efficient than they used to be. However, depending on the system you buy, a ductless unit can use as little as half the energy of a window unit.
Window AC units have their advantages, but the advantages of a ductless AC unit can be far better. If you’re in need of a ductless AC installation, contact Cape Fear Air Conditioning today.
